WellSpring to participate in National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.

Dateline – MARTINSVILLE, IN, November 13-19, 2017WellSpring engages in events to promote awareness, and raise funds.

National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is an annual program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Participating groups such as WellSpring in Martinsville spend the week holding a series of educational, service, fundraising, and advocacy events.

National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (HHAW) is held each year the week before Thanksgiving. This is a time for us all to start to think about what we are thankful for, a perfect time to share our compassion with our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness and work toward a world where no one has to experience hunger or homelessness.

Many Americans are living on the edge, forced to choose between basic necessities like purchasing food, paying rent, or going to the doctor.

So for every pair of Bombas purchased, they donate a pair to someone in need. So far, over 4 million pairs have been donated.

As many, especially youth, couch surf just prior to becoming “officially” homeless, WellSpring Executive, Bob Goodrum, will spend a night on a different couch throughout Morgan County during the week.

WellSpring has served as the only shelter for homeless families in Morgan County since 1988. Last fiscal year, 99 different adults and 95 different children were provided shelter and supportive services. A total of 19,066 nights of shelter was provided.
